Annex is one of the neighborhoods in Downtown, Toronto which is bounded by Avenue Road towards the east, Bathurst to
the west, Dupont towards the north and Bloor to the south. The adjacent area of Yorkville which was roughly bounded
by Avenue Road to Yonge Street And, Davenport Road to Bloor Street , was included in the neighborhood. Yorkville is
a residential suburb before being annexed in 1883 by the City of Toronto and was a district that has been known for
upscale shopping, a vibrant neighborhood that is given more life by its restaurants, bars, nightclubs and the famous
University of Toronto. Notable people, prominent business people, famous artists and writers and the faculty and
students of the University of Toronto were the main residents of this neighborhood that made it to be considered
elite.
Despite being relatively close to downtown, this neighborhood has remained safe and beautiful with its tree lined
one way streets and gorgeous architectures. Elaborate Victorian and Edwardian three-storey semis with fancy flourish
dominate and give grace to the streets of this neighborhood. The considered to be first-wave annex homes and
mansions mostly cover an area with the average size of 3000 to 5000 square feet and was said to be built between
1880 and 1990’s. The rise of architectural style in this neighborhood continuously improved when English Cottage,
Georgian and Tudor styled homes started showcasing its beauty in around 1910 to 1930.
Houses in this neighborhood aside from being large in size are also rounded by Romanesque arches and with a Queen
Anne style decorative items such as turrets and beautiful window surrounds. Exterior facades are typical made of
Credit River sandstone in plum and pink hues, rich red brick and terracotta clay tiles.Truly annex is a special
